Stonepeak to Acquire Interest in Woodside’s Louisiana LNG

Simpson Thacher is advising Stonepeak, a leading global investment firm specializing in infrastructure and real assets, in connection with its agreement to acquire a 40% interest in Louisiana LNG Infrastructure LLC (the “Project”), a liquefied natural gas production and export terminal in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana owned by Woodside Energy Group Ltd.

The Project, positioned in the heart of the Gulf Coast LNG corridor with close proximity to natural gas resources and direct access to the U.S. Gulf, has a total permitted capacity of 27.6 million tonnes per annum. As part of the transaction, Stonepeak will contribute approximately $5.7 billion towards the expected capital expenditure for the three-train foundation development phase of the Project, with an expected capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per annum, on an accelerated basis. Stonepeak’s investment will provide a material step towards readiness for a final investment decision in respect of the foundation phase of the Project.
