Yang Wang is a Partner in Simpson Thacher’s Corporate Department. He advises clients on mergers, leveraged buyouts, equity investments, joint ventures and other complex corporate transactions.

Yang has been recognized as a “Band 1” practitioner in Corporate/M&A (China-based International Firms) by Chambers, rated as “Highly Regarded” by IFLR1000, and credited with least one “Deal of the Year” every year in the past decade by various publications and agencies.  Despites these accolades, Yang takes greater pride in client feedback for the STB China M&A/PE team he leads.  According to Legal 500, which rates the STB China M&A/PE team as “Tier 1,” clients have described the team as “a go-to [team] for high-stakes or complex transactions” and highlighted that “despite their past accomplishments and sterling credentials, [the STB China M&A/PE team] remains highly responsive, adaptable and eager to serve clients.”

Yang speaks English and Mandarin Chinese. He used to be fluent in C++ and Java from his previous career as a computer programmer. Yang is a member of the Board of Governors of the Cranbrook Kingswood Schools in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.

Yang received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics, summa cum laude, and Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2000 and 2001, respectively. He received his Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School in 2008, where he was a Clarence Darrow Scholar and served as an Article Editor of the Michigan Law Review. Yang is admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
