Katie McMenamin

Katie McMenamin is a Partner in the Firm’s Fund Finance Practice. Based in London, she advises borrowers across numerous fund strategies, as well as private credit lenders, on some of the most highly structured and complex facilities across the spectrum of fund finance products available in the market. Katie’s multifaceted practice—which includes advising on subscription financings, NAV and hybrid financings, secondaries, GP-support debt facilities and equity products—uniquely positions her to help clients achieve their commercial goals.

Widely recognized for her business acumen, Katie is consistently ranked by Chambers as one of the leading lawyers in banking and finance, with clients describing her as “a sharp technical mind with a strong commercial awareness.” She was also recently recognized among Business Today’s “Top 10 Influential Mid-Market Banking and Finance Lawyers in London,” and has previously been named a “Hot 100: Dealmaker” by The Lawyer and a “Rising Star” in Private Equity by Law.com International.

Notable experience prior to joining Simpson Thacher includes representing:

• Investec Bank on subscription, hybrid, NAV, secondaries, GP support and management fee facilities in excess of £10 billion made available to funds and general partners across multiple asset classes
• Banco Santander on subscription facilities made available to private equity and private equity real estate funds
• Five international banks on a c.€1.5 billion subscription facility for a large international secondaries fund
• A large investment bank on NAV lending and preferred equity products made available to private equity buyout funds
• The Royal Bank of Scotland on subscription, co-invest and NAV facilities in excess of €5 billion made available to major European private equity and private equity real estate funds
• Private equity, private equity real estate and secondaries managers including Equistone, Benson Elliot and Hermes GPE on subscription and co-invest facilities for various fund vehicles
• A group of banks led by Wells Fargo and The Royal Bank of Scotland on subscription facilities made available to multiple private equity real estate funds
• Shawbrook Bank on a number of unitranche facilities, including building their offering and precedent documentation and executing their first deals in the unitranche market
• ICG Credit on a term loan facility made to a corporate borrower in connection with a recapitalization and refinancing

Katie received her LPC from BPP University Law School, London in 2010. She received her LL.B. in 2008 from the University of Oxford, where she was awarded the Slaughter & May Prize for performance in Moderations, the Hertford College Scholarship and the Hertford College Book Prize for Jurisprudence. She is admitted to practice in England and Wales.
