Carleigh advises private equity and corporate clients on environmental issues arising in the full array of commercial transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, securities and financing transactions, bankruptcies and restructurings, among others. Her work extends across a broad range of U.S. and international industries, from real estate, technology and commercial, to energy, infrastructure, waste, chemicals, manufacturing and other industrials. In the transactional context, Carleigh identifies, evaluates and manages environmental liabilities and risk, including managing environmental due diligence and consultants, negating environmental indemnities and other contractual language and procuring environmental insurance, and coordinates environmental regulatory approvals. She also provides pre-deal counseling and manages post-closing resolution of environmental issues. Prior to her career in law, Carleigh spent several years advising on federal and state coastal and ocean management and policy matters with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Carleigh received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 2013, cum laude, where she was Managing Editor of the Georgetown International Environmental Law Review. She received her M.E.M. in Coastal Environmental Management from Duke University in 2004 and her B.A. in Biology & Environmental Studies from Vanderbilt University in 2000. She is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
