West Publications this month released in bound edition and on Westlaw the Eighth Edition of McLaughlin on Class Actions: Law and Practice, a two volume treatise authored by litigation partner Joseph M. McLaughlin. The treatise continues to be one of the most comprehensive and referenced works on class actions, frequently cited in federal and state appellate and trial courts and by practitioners across the country. Reviewed by one commentator as "the best synthesis of the law of class actions," and by another as "an essential and valuable component of every commercial litigator's library,” the treatise features full-scale explorations of all class action principles of general application, and focused discussion of Rule 23’s application to the substantive practice areas in which putative class action claims frequently are litigated. The Eighth Edition is substantially expanded and updated, featuring extensive new text analyzing class action and shareholder derivative litigation developments since publication of the Seventh Edition last year, including several United States Supreme Court rulings making fundamental changes in class action law and practice.
