Ryerson Symons Recognized as the “Dealmaker of the Week” by AmLaw Daily

Simpson Thacher partner Ryerson Symons has been recognized by the AmLaw Daily as this week’s “Dealmaker of the Week” for leading the Simpson Thacher team representing a consortium consisting of Apax Partners, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board in their announced $6.3 billion acquisition of Kinetic Concepts, Inc.  The transaction has been reported to be the largest leveraged buyout since 2008.  KCI is a leading global medical technology company devoted to the discovery, development, manufacture and marketing of innovative, high-technology therapies and products for the wound care, tissue regeneration and therapeutic support system markets.  To read more about this transaction, please click here.

The AmLaw Daily discussed Mr. Symon’s longstanding relationship with Apax, beginning in 2004 while he was stationed in Simpson Thacher’s London office.  He has since represented the private equity fund in connection with a number of deals including its $3 billion sale of Tommy Hilfiger to Phillips-Van Heusen Group in 2008 and its $763 million acquisition of Trader Corp. earlier this year.
