Summer Craig is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department. Summer represents clients in a variety of complex commercial litigations, with particular emphasis in the areas of insurance and reinsurance. She has extensive experience advising clients in connection with insurance coverage matters involving environmental and asbestos-related claims, business interruption, cyberattacks, consumer class actions, acquisitions, and product liability, among others. Summer Craig is a Partner in the Firm’s Litigation Department. Summer represents clients in a variety of complex commercial litigations, with particular emphasis in the areas of insurance and reinsurance. She has extensive experience advising clients in connection with insurance coverage matters involving environmental and asbestos-related claims, cyberattacks, consumer class actions, acquisitions, product liability, and pandemic-related business interruption litigation, among others. Summer has successfully litigated cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States.
Summer’s representative experience includes:
- Various insurers in defending against claims from aircraft owners alleging their aircraft became stranded in Russia after the invasion of Ukraine
- Factory Mutual Insurance Company in winning dismissal of business interruption claims related to COVID-19 pandemic
- Travelers in mega insurance coverage cases against Northrop Grumman involving pollution at several sites in Long Island
- Beazley Group in appellate win against identity theft prevention service LifeLock’s demand for insurance coverage of consumer class actions
- OneBeacon in multiple appeals involving Olin Corporation concerning coverage for environmental and asbestos-related claims
- Berkshire Hathaway-owned insurers in nationwide litigations challenging business practices
- Equitas in winning dismissal of litigation alleging violations of the Donnelly Act, New York State’s antitrust law
- Global life insurance company in arbitration seeking rescission of a billion-dollar acquisition through reinsurance of a block of disability insurance policies
- Insurer in a multibillion-dollar arbitration in which her client was found to have no obligation to provide non-products coverage to an asbestos insulation installer
- Corporate clients regarding insurance, asbestos and other mass tort issues in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, loans and securities offerings

Summer is actively engaged with various publications, having co-authored the United States chapter in The Insurance Disputes Law Review (6th ed.) and regularly publishes the Firm’s Insurance Law Alert, alongside other authors. She also participates in industry-related speaking engagements, including serving as a panelist with PLI’s discussion on “Environmental Insurance: Business Interruption Coverage and Claims.”
Summer received her J.D. in 2002 from Cornell Law School. She received her B.A., cum laude, from Dartmouth College in 1997 where she graduated with High Honors in History. She is admitted to practice in New York.
