Rony Rothken focuses on the organization, structuring and operation of a broad range of closed-end and open-end private investment funds across multiple asset classes, including buyout, real estate, credit, secondaries, infrastructure, energy, venture and hedge funds.
In addition to traditional fund formation initiatives, Rony advises clients on a wide variety of fund-related matters, including separate accounts and other customized arrangements, joint ventures, co-investments, GP-led secondary transactions, strategic “minority stakes” transactions and internal sponsor arrangements. He also regularly advises clients on compliance with the Investment Advisers Act, the Commodity Exchange Act and other regulatory compliance matters.
Rony’s experience includes representing Andreessen Horowitz, Blackstone, Calera Capital, CVC Credit Partners, Framework Ventures, GCM Grosvenor, Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), Sterling Investors and Stonepeak.

- Blackstone Real Estate in multiple fundraisings, including the establishment of the €21 billion recapitalization of Mileway, the €9.8 billion Blackstone Real Estate Partners Europe VI and various co-investment vehicles, separate accounts and customized arrangements
- Blackstone Credit & Insurance in multiple fundraisings, including the establishment of closed-ended and evergreen direct lending funds, separate accounts and customized arrangements
- Blackstone in its acquisition of DCI
- ICG in multiple fundraisings, including the establishment of the $5 billion ICG Strategic Equity Fund IV and the $1.35 billion ICG North American Private Debt Fund II and various co-investment vehicles, separate accounts, customized arrangements and fund transactions
- Sterling Investors in the establishment of its inaugural value-add real estate fund, the $410 million Sterling Investors Fund I
- Stonepeak in the establishment of its inaugural renewable energy fund, the $2.75 billion Stonepeak Global Renewables Fund
Rony received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2012 from Fordham University School of Law, where he was a Wilkinson Scholar, Mary Daly Scholar and recipient of the Fordham Law School Prize. He graduated, magna cum laude, from George Washington University in 2009. Rony is admitted to practice in New York.
