Crystal L. Frierson

Crystal Frierson is a Partner in the Firm’s Private Funds Practice. She advises sponsors on the formation, structuring and management of private investment funds across a range of asset classes as well as on co-investments and separately managed accounts. She also counsels clients in respect to private investments in alternative asset managers. Crystal regularly represents some of the largest and most prominent fund sponsors including The Carlyle Group, Blackstone, Hellman & Friedman and Platinum Equity.

Highlights include advising:

• Platinum Equity in the establishment of the $10 billion Platinum Equity Capital Partners V fund
• Carlyle in a number of fundraisings including in respect of Carlyle Property Investors and the Carlyle Realty funds
• Blackstone Strategic Capital Holdings in its minority investments in Marlin Equity Partners, GI Partners, Leonard Green and others
• Hellman & Friedman in the formation of the $16 billion Hellman & Friedman Capital Partners IX fund
• Platinum Equity in the formation of the $1.5 billion Platinum Equity Small Cap Fund
• Clearlake Capital in the formation of the $3.6 billion Clearlake Capital Partners V fund and certain co-investments
• First Reserve in the establishment of the $2.5 billion First Reserve Energy Infrastructure Fund II
• KKR in the formation of the $2.24 billion KKR Private Credit Opportunities Partners II fund

Crystal received her J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law and an M.P.A. from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. She received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Howard University. Crystal is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and New York.
