Catherine N. Burns

Catherine Burns is a Partner in Simpson Thacher’s Banking and Credit Practice.  She regularly advises the world’s foremost private equity firms and their portfolio companies and other corporate borrowers on acquisition financings, bank and bridge loan financings, refinancings and other corporate finance transactions.

Catherine’s recent work includes advising:

• Broadcom Limited in connection with $100 billion of committed debt financing for its proposed acquisition of Qualcomm Incorporated
• Digital Colony Partners and EQT Partners in connection with the financing for their $14.3 billion acquisition of Zayo
• Silver Lake Partners in connection with its acquisition of First Advantage from Symphony Technology Group
• KKR Real Estate Finance Trust in its term loan and revolving credit facilities
• Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division in connection with its acquisition of MDVIP
• Dell Technologies in its refinancing transactions, including in connection with its spin-off of VMware
• Blackstone in the financing related to its $1.2 billion acquisition of a majority stake in Spanx from its founder
• Genesys Telecommunications Laboratories, Inc. in connection with the financing of its $1.4 billion acquisition of Interactive Intelligence
• Silver Lake Partners and its portfolio companies in the financings for numerous acquisitions and in refinancings, including those for EverCommerce, City Football Group, Endeavor, UFC, Clubessential and Relativity

Catherine received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007, her M.B.A. from Cornell University in 2015, with distinction, and her J.D., magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School that same year. Catherine is admitted to practice in New York.
