Marc Hecht is a Partner in Simpson Thacher’s Restructuring team in London. Marc has over a decade’s experience of driving solutions in domestic and international situations involving financial stress, restructuring and insolvency. Marc works closely with a diverse range of clients, including sponsors, portfolio companies, capital and liquidity solution providers, par lenders and secondary investors.

  • The ad hoc group of lenders to the Praesidiad group on its financial restructuring implemented through an English scheme of arrangement
  • BC Partners in respect of the restructuring of the Keter Group, involving debt of €1.6bn
  • TDR Capital and Hurtigruten in connection with the group’s recapitalization, involving €1.3bn of debt
  • Bondholder and operating partner of Farfetch in connection with Farfetch’s restructuring, involving €1.8bn of debt
  • The joint administrators of the Global Brands Group involving multiple material asset disposals of joint venture and other assets across 60+ jurisdictions
  • Various of the Firm’s key private equity sponsor clients, in connection with their existing portfolios

Marc’s select experience prior to Simpson Thacher includes representing:

  • Ad hoc group of lenders to Steinhoff Europe AG in respect of the €8 billion financial restructuring of the Steinhoff group and various DIP lenders to Steinhoff’s U.S. business, Mattress Firm in connection with its chapter 11 in the U.S.
  • DTEK, Ukraine’s leading privately owned energy company, on the restructuring of its entire capital structure which included various English schemes of arrangement and a consensual override of its bank facilities
  • Bibby Offshore, in connection with its debt for equity restructuring implemented through an English scheme of arrangement
  • The LATAM Airlines group and joint provisional liquidators in connection with restructuring implemented through a coordinated chapter 11 in the U.S. and related provisional liquidations in Cayman

Marc received his LPC from College of Law, London and his GDL from BPP University Law School, London. He received a B.A. from the University of Leeds.
