In their column in the New York Law Journal, Litigation Partners Bill Russell and Linton Mann III explore People v. Douglas, in which the Court of Appeals addressed the constitutionality of the New York City Police Department’s protocol for warrantless inventory searches of vehicles. In its decision, the Court affirmed a ruling of the Appellate Division, First Department that the People had met their burden of establishing that the N.Y.P.D. inventory search protocol meets the constitutional minimum.
