Lynn Neuner and Linton Mann III Quoted in The AmLaw Litigation Daily on Litigation Outlook for 2025

01.08.25

Lynn Neuner, Global Co-Chair of Simpson Thacher’s Litigation Department, and Litigation Partner Linton Mann III were quoted in an AmLaw Litigation Daily article titled, “Experts Weigh In On the 2025 Litigation Outlook,” which explored areas that are expected to be of focus for litigation over the course of the year. Discussing how the anticipated uptick in deal volume will affect our team, Lynn noted, “Traditional regulatory-initiated investigations may not have the same pace, but in the commercial litigation, we see people ready to rumble.” Lynn further observed that litigants seem to be emboldened by the macroeconomic environment, pointing to an increasing appetite to litigate cases to a conclusion or to litigate further than usual to try to improve negotiating leverage. Reflecting on the potential impact of generative AI on future litigation, Linton explained that technology could make it more efficient, faster and less costly for plaintiffs to draft complaints and conduct more efficient discovery, especially in areas such as securities litigation. “The cost of litigation for bringing one of these cases may have been impacted, and that could play a role in why one might choose to fight today a case that they might have wanted to settle earlier,” he said.
