Simpson Thacher represented the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (“CZI”) in connection with its $500 million pledge to support the creation of The Kempner Institute for the Study of Natural and Artificial Intelligence (“The Kempner Institute”) at Harvard University. The Kempner Institute will seek to better understand the basis of intelligence in natural and artificial systems to develop both principled theories and a practical understanding of how they operate and learn.
CZI was founded in 2015 to help solve some of society’s biggest challenges—from eradicating disease and improving education, to addressing the needs of local communities.
The Simpson Thacher team was led by Dave Shevlin (Exempt Organizations).
