Simpson Thacher Names New Senior Counsel and Counsel

New YorkDecember 16, 2019Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP has promoted the following attorneys to Senior Counsel and Counsel, effective January 1, 2020.

The new Senior Counsel are:

Patrick M. Baron (New York) – Patrick focuses on domestic and international corporate finance matters. He represents investment banks and issuers in high yield financings, debt restructurings, liability management transactions, initial public offerings and other capital markets matters. He also regularly advises clients with respect to securities laws and general corporate issues. A former clerk at the Appellate Court of Cologne, Germany, Patrick received his J.D. from the University of Cologne and his LL.M. from Cornell Law School.

Krista B. McManus (New York) – Krista is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate Practice. She counsels corporate clients with respect to real estate matters involving mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings and lending transactions. She clerked for the Hon. Joanna Seybert, United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Krista received her J.D., cum laude, from St. John’s University School of Law and her B.A., cum laude, from Boston College.

The new Counsel are:

Patricia K. Adams (New York) – Patricia is a member of the Firm’s Executive Compensation and Employee Benefits Practice. She advises clients on a wide range of compensation and employee benefits arrangements, particularly with regard to issues arising from mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and initial public offerings. Patricia received her J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law, cum laude, and her M.S. and B.B.A from the University of Notre Dame.

E. Ryan Coombs (Palo Alto) – Ryan is a member of the Firm’s Capital Markets Practice. He advises both issuers and underwriters on a variety of corporate finance matters and securities transactions, including initial public offerings, secondary and other equity offerings, as well as a wide range of debt offerings. Ryan received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of San Francisco and his B.S. from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Kavita Davis (London) – Kavita is a member of the Firm’s Banking and Credit Practice. She focuses her practice on cross-border debt finance matters, including infrastructure finance, leveraged acquisition finance and syndicated corporate facilities, as well as complex corporate debt offerings. Kavita received her LL.B. from The W.B. National University of Juridical Sciences, India.

Genevieve Dorment (New York) – Genevieve focuses her practice on intellectual property matters. She has extensive experience managing all intellectual property and technology aspects of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, credit transactions, licensing and U.S. trademark applications and registrations. She also advises on intellectual property litigation and enforcement matters. Genevieve received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Fordham Law School and her B.S. from Northwestern University.

Jonathan T. Menitove (New York) – Jon is a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department and represents clients in a wide range of high-profile complex commercial litigation matters. He also advises clients in connection with regulatory and government investigations. Jon clerked for the Hon. Robert W. Sweet, United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his M.A. and B.A., magna cum laude, from Yale University.

 Jonathan H. Pacheco (Washington, D.C.) – Jonathan represents corporate issuers, investment banks and private equity sponsors in connection with securities offerings, including initial public offerings, follow-on and secondary equity offerings, and high yield and investment grade debt offerings. He also advises clients on corporate governance and general corporate and securities law matters. Jonathan received his J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School, Brigham Young University and his B.S. from Brigham Young University.

Anar Rathod Patel (New York) – Anar is a member of the Firm’s Litigation Department, where she focuses on high-stakes regulatory and criminal matters for financial institutions, investment managers, public companies and individuals. She also represents clients in a wide range of complex commercial litigation matters, with a focus on securities litigation. Anar clerked for the Hon. William F. Kuntz, II, United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law and her B.S. from Cornell University.

Jodi Schneider (New York) –Jodi is a member of the Firm’s Tax Practice. She advises clients on the tax aspects of a broad range of corporate matters, including fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures and related credit and capital markets financing transactions. Jodi received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and her B.A., magna cum laude, from Duke University.

Kelli Schultz (Palo Alto) –Kelli focuses her practice on capital markets transactions and securities law compliance. A member of the Firm’s Public Company Advisory Practice, Kelli also advises management and boards of directors on best practices for corporate governance. She also regularly represents both issuers and underwriters on a variety of securities transactions, such as initial public offerings, secondary offerings and debt offerings. Kelli received her J.D. from the University of California Berkeley School of Law and her B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley.

Maura L. Whelan (New York) –Maura is a member of the Firm’s Exempt Organizations Practice. She advises private foundations, public charities and social welfare organizations on structural and operating issues, including formation and governance, as well as domestic and international grantmaking. Maura also counsels donors on charitable gift planning and structuring. In addition, she advises institutions on investments in a wide variety of vehicles, including mission- and program-related investments and other private and public market investments. Maura received her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School and her A.B., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University.

Diana C. Wielocha (Washington, D.C.) –Diana is a member of the Firm’s Government and Internal Investigations Practice. She represents multinational corporations, boards and executives in high-stakes investigations by the DOJ, SEC and other federal and state agencies. Diana also handles sensitive internal investigations on behalf of companies across a variety of industries and has significant experience in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act-related matters. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and her B.A., summa cum laude, from Northwestern University.

Charles Xu (New York) –Chuck is a member of the Firm’s Private Funds Practice. He specializes in the formation and operation of private equity funds across numerous asset classes, including buyout, real estate and hedge fund, among others. He also advises funds in connection with minority stake acquisitions. Chuck received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Fordham University School of Law and his B.S.E. from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Sciences and Art.
