Simpson Thacher was awarded Fund Formation Law Firm of the Year in Asia 2018 by Private Equity International (PEI). The Firm was recognized for its work acting as sponsor counsel on several of the largest fundraisings in the Asia Pacific region. The Firm advised Affinity Equity Partners on its Fund V, which closed on $6 billion, Yunfeng Capital on its $2.5 billion Fund III and Carlyle on Carlyle Asia Partners V, which closed on $6.55 billion. It also assisted Blackstone on two landmark fundraising, including its first buyout fund dedicated to Asia and its second pan-Asia opportunistic real estate fund, Blackstone Real Estate Partners Asia II. In discussing the award, Adam Furber, Partner and Head of the Firm’s Asia Private Funds Practice, commented “2018 was another incredibly strong year for Simpson Thacher’s Asia Private Funds Practice.
