GSO Capital Partners Closes Third Capital Solutions Fund at $7 Billion Hard Cap

Simpson Thacher represented GSO Capital Partners, the credit division of Blackstone (NYSE: BX), in the final closing of its third capital solutions fund, GSO Capital Solutions Fund III (“the Fund”), at a hard cap of $7 billion. The Fund closed at an increase of approximately 40% from GSO’s second capital solutions fund, which was raised in 2013 with representation by the Firm.
GSO Capital Partners will leverage the Fund to provide capital solutions to companies facing liquidity issues, including pending debt maturities, liquidity shortfalls and temporary cyclical challenges, needing capital to avoid imminent bankruptcy or needing assistance in their exit from bankruptcy.
