Simpson Thacher won M&A Team of the Year (for International Firms) at the recent China Law & Practice Awards 2017. This is the second consecutive year that Simpson Thacher has won this award for its representation of clients in some landmark M&A transactions in China. In addition, Corporate Partner Shaolin Luo was named Dealmaker of the Year in the International Law Firm category. Earlier this year, Shaolin was also named as one of the 2017 China Top 10 M&A Lawyers in the International Law Firm category by Asian Legal Business (ALB).

The Firm was also awarded Outbound Deal of the Year for its representation of ChemChina in connection with its US$43 billion acquisition of Syngenta, which represents the largest foreign acquisition by a Chinese company. The transaction also won Finance Deal of the Year: Acquisitions at the Asia Legal Awards 2017 and M&A Deal of the Year at the ALB China Law Awards 2017.
