Simpson Thacher recently won China Business Law Journal’s 2016 China Business Law Awards in the categories of Mergers and Acquisitions, Private Equity and Venture Capital, and TMT. CBLJ honors five prominent international firms and five prominent Chinese firms in each practice category in its annual awards.
The Firm was also recognized with five “Deal of the Year” awards for its representation of ChemChina in its announced $43 billion acquisition of Syngenta, which represents the largest foreign acquisition by a Chinese company, its representation of Alibaba Group Holding Limited in its going private acquisition of Youku Tudou, its representation of KKR, Dr. Ravi Penmetsa and certain of his affiliates and Gland Pharma Limited in the announced acquisition by Shanghai Fosun Pharmaceutical (Group) Co. Ltd., its representation of the Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Homeinns Hotel Group in its going private transaction, and its representation of Primavera as a member of the buyer consortium in Xiwang Foodstuffs’ acquisition of a majority stake in Iovate Health Science International.

Separately, the Firm won two 2016 Deal of the Year awards from the Asia Business Law Journal for our representation of Kyushu Railway Company in its $3.9 billion global IPO, the world’s largest rail IPO since 1993, and our representation of the underwriters in dual-listed IPO of LINE Corporation on the Tokyo and New York Stock Exchanges, which was the largest technology IPO in 2016.
