Simpson Thacher won M&A Team of the Year (for international firms) at the recent China Law & Practice Awards 2016. Earlier this year, the Firm was also named M&A Team of the Year by the Asia Legal Awards 2016 run by The Asian Lawyer in conjunction with The American Lawyer and China Law & Practice.

The Firm was also awarded M&A Deal of the Year for its representation of affiliates of Tsinghua University in connection with the acquisition of a 51% interest in a newly created business comprising Hewlett-Packard’s subsidiary, H3C Technologies, and HP’s China-based server, storage and technology services businesses. The transaction represented a rare instance of a U.S. tech giant opening a core business to a Chinese partner amid global cybersecurity concerns. Separately, in the recent ALB Hong Kong Law Awards 2016, the Firm was awarded M&A Deal of the Year for its representation of Alibaba Group Holding Limited in connection with the going private transaction involving Youku Tudou Inc. The transaction was also recognized as TMT Deal of the Year by the ALB China Law Awards 2016 and Deal of the Year by the Asian-Mena Counsel in the publication’s 2015 annual awards.
