Entergy Corporation Announces Sale of Rhode Island Gas-Fired Generating Facility to Carlyle Power Partners

Simpson Thacher is representing Entergy Corporation (NYSE: ETR) in the sale of its 583-megawatt Rhode Island State Energy Center (RISEC), a natural gas-fired, combined-cycle generating facility located in Johnston, Rhode Island, to Carlyle Power Partners for approximately $490 million. The transaction is expected to close later this year, following the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. 

Entergy Corporation is an integrated energy company engaged primarily in electric power production and retail distribution operations. Entergy owns and operates power plants with approximately 30,000 megawatts of electric generating capacity, and delivers electricity to 2.8 million utility customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
