Simpson Thacher acted as sole international counsel in connection with the update of the US$2 billion global medium term notes program and the offering of US$300 million 2.625% Senior Notes due 2019 by Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. The offering was conducted in reliance upon Regulation S under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933, as amended.
Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. is one of six wholly-owned regional electricity generation subsidiaries of Korea Electric Power Corporation, a government-controlled electricity company in Korea. Barclays Bank PLC, Merrill Lynch International and Standard Chartered Bank were the joint lead managers for the offering.
The Simpson Thacher team included Jin Hyuk Park, Johneth C. Park, John Hahn (Corporate); and Jacqueline Barbera (Tax).
