Simpson Thacher was recently recognized by Law360 as one of the top global law firms in 2011 in four categories: Energy, Mergers & Acquisitions, Private Equity and Real Estate. We were one of only six firms to be named in four or more practice group categories. The publication highlighted the Firm’s practices as part of its “Practice Groups of the Year” feature, ranking the top five firms in each practice area.
The Firm was recognized for its work on complex, market-leading transactions in each category. In the M&A profile, Law360 highlighted the Firm’s representation of Tyco in its separation into three independent, publicly traded companies; Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P., Natural Gas Partners, Crestview Partners and Itochu Corporation in their $7.2 billion acquisition of Samson Investment Company; and Microsoft Corporation in connection with its acquisition of Skype Global S.à r.l. for $8.5 billion.
