Jonathan K. Youngwood Wins 2011 Burton Award for Legal Achievement

Simpson Thacher litigation partner Jonathan K. Youngwood has been named a recipient of the prestigious Burton Award for Legal Achievement for his article “New Plausibility Standard Impacts Pleading in Employee Benefits Cases,” which was published in BNA, Inc.’s Pension & Benefits Daily on April 29, 2010.  The article was written with former litigation associate Hiral D. Mehta.  The Burton Awards, which honors the nation’s finest legal writers, is run in association with the Library of Congress Law Library.  The awards are selected by an Academic Board led by Virginia Wise, Esq., lecturer at Harvard Law School; Anne E. Kringel, Esq., senior lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania Law School; Grace Tonner, Esq., founding faculty member of the School of Law, University of California, Irvine; Judge Ed Forstenzer, California Superior Court (retired); and William Ryan, member of the Department of Homeland Security.   

The 2011 Burton Awards dinner will be held at the Library of Congress on June 13, 2011.  Past Simpson Thacher winners of the Burton Award are Joyce Xu (2010); Lori Lesser (2008); Barry Ostrager (2007); and Joe McLaughlin (2005). For more information please click here.
