 Over the last decade, Simpson Thacher has developed a strong practice group focused on Latin America, consisting of approximately 30 lawyers, and recently announced plans to open an office in Sao Paulo, Brazil to support the growing practice.  In the last year, the group has closed a variety of transactions, including in debt and equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions (including private equity and strategic M&A), bank and structured financings, project financings and joint ventures in nations throughout the region, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela.  Simpson Thacher has also achieved one of the leading market shares among international firms in the Brazilian IPO market over the last four years with nearly 50 equity offerings completed.
