Simpson Thacher is representing a newly formed affiliate of The Blackstone Group in its $870 million acquisition of Encore Medical Corporation, a NASDAQ-traded orthopedic device company. Encore Medical Corporation develops, manufactures and distributes a comprehensive range of orthopedic devices, rehabilitation and physical therapy products, and reconstructive joint products and spinal implants.
The parties anticipate consummating the transaction later this year.
