Keegan T. Lopez

A Partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department, Keegan Lopez regularly advises some of the world’s most prominent private equity sponsors, as well as public and private companies, on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, dispositions, carve-outs, strategic investments, joint ventures and other corporate transactions across a wide range of industries. Keegan’s clients have included Ingersoll Rand, Stonepeak, Blackstone, Sony Music Entertainment, Investor AB and its portfolio companies, Sarnova and Laborie Medical Technologies, Thompson Street Capital Partners and KKR, among many others. Prior to joining Simpson Thacher, Keegan worked at another international law firm where he also advised private equity firms and public and private companies, including KKR in its $2.2 billion acquisition of Arnott’s and certain of Campbell’s International Operations from Campbell Soup Company.

Keegan’s recent representations include:

• BREIT, Blackstone Infrastructure Partners and other long-term perpetual capital vehicles managed by Blackstone in their $10 billion acquisition of QTS Realty for $10 billion
• Stonepeak in its $8.1 billion acquisition of Astound Broadband
• Ingersoll Rand in several transactions, including its acquisition of SPX Flow’s Air Treatment Business, as well as its acquisition of Roots from Chart Industries
• Blackstone Real Estate in its $7.6 billion acquisition of PS Business Parks
• BREIT in its $5.8 billion acquisition of Preferred Apartment Communities
• BREIT and Blackstone Property Partners in their $13 billion acquisition of American Campus Communities
• MediaRadar, a portfolio company of Thompson Street Capital Partners, in its acquisition of Vivvix
• Laborie Medical Technologies, a portfolio company of Investor AB, in its acquisition of GI Supply
• Sarnova, a portfolio company of Investor AB, on several transactions, including the acquisition of One Beat Medical and the acquisition and simultaneous combination of Digitech and the R1 RCM Inc. EMS Business
• Blackstone Growth as lead investor in a $225 million investment in Clari, valuing Clari at more than $2.6 billion
• Apax Partners on its $500 million strategic investment in KAR Auctions
• Sony Music Entertainment in its acquisition of Alamo Records

Keegan received his LL.B. (with Honors) from the University of Auckland, where he received the Senior Scholar Award from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Law Dean's Academic Excellence Award. Keegan received his B.A. from the University of Auckland.
