John Kreager is a Partner in the Firm’s Private Funds Practice. John also counsels sponsors on separately managed accounts, co-investment arrangements and structured secondary and other strategic transactions. John’s recent representations include advising CIM Group, KSL Capital Partners and Revelstoke Capital Partners, among others.

His practice focuses on the organization, structuring and operation of private funds across a broad range of asset classes, including buyout funds, real estate funds and distressed and other debt funds. John also counsels sponsors on separately managed accounts, co-investment arrangements and structured secondary and other strategic transactions. John’s regular clients include CIM Group, KSL Capital Partners and Revelstoke Capital Partners, among others.

Representative transactions on which John has worked include:

  • KSL Capital Partners in the formation of KSL Capital Partners Fund V (and predecessor funds), KSL Credit Opportunities Fund IV (and predecessor funds) and KSL Tactical Opportunities Fund I, as well as its structured secondary transactions for Ross Aviation and Alterra Mountain Company
  • Revelstoke Capital Partners in the formation of Revelstoke Capital Partners Fund III (and predecessor funds), and on multiple related GP-led secondary and restructuring transactions
  • CIM Group in the establishment of CIM Fund IX, open-ended real estate and real estate debt funds and various separately managed accounts
  • Hellman & Friedman in the formation of Hellman & Friedman Capital Partners IX, a $16 billion global buyout fund
  • Blackstone’s Strategic Capital Group in its minority investment in Marlin Equity Partners
  • Clearlake Capital in the formation of Clearlake Capital Partners Fund V and the sale of a minority stake to Dyal Capital Partners and Petershill

John received his J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School, where he was a Senior Editor for the Southern California Law Review. He also received his B.A. from the University of Southern California, summa cum laude. John is admitted to practice in California.
