David Whelan is a Partner in the Firm’s Private Funds Practice. David specializes in the formation and operation of private equity funds, including secondary, infrastructure, real estate funds, buyout funds and co-investment funds, as well as other asset classes.
He has represented numerous private equity sponsors in fund formation, including Corsair Capital, Blackstone, Morgan Stanley, New Mountain Capital and Strategic Partners.

- Blackstone in the establishment of the $25 billion fund, Strategic Partners IX, and the $2.7 billion fund, Strategic Partners GP Solutions, its inaugural GP-led continuation fund strategy.

- New Mountain Capital in its acquisition of PerkinElmer’s Applied, Food and Enterprise Services businesses.
