Partners Nicholas Goldin and Lori Lesser, and Associates Melanie Jolson and Shanice Hinckson authored an article published by NYU School of Law's Compliance & Enforcement Blog titled, “Recently Enacted Federal Cybersecurity Disclosure Statute Will Significantly Expand Data Breach and Ransomware Reporting Obligations.” The article explores the expanded data breach and ransomware reporting requirements for companies in the energy, communications, financial services and other critical infrastructure sectors included in the recently enacted Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act. The article further notes that many companies may already have processes in place to evaluate disclosure of cyber incidents, although this legislation provides additional reason for them to take the time to review their cybersecurity response plans to ensure they are appropriately designed.
