Federal Reserve Seeks More Limits on Physical Commodity Activities of Financial Holding Companies

Last Friday, the Federal Reserve released a proposed rule that would impose additional regulatory limitations on the physical commodity trading activities of financial holding companies. The proposal follows a period of significant legislative and regulatory scrutiny over the participation of banking organizations in physical commodity activities. Comments on the proposal are due by December 22.
