West Publications this month released in bound edition and on Westlaw the Seventh Edition of McLaughlin on Class Actions: Law and Practice, a two volume treatise authored by litigation partner Joseph M. McLaughlin. The treatise is frequently cited in federal and state appellate and trial courts across the country, and has been reviewed by one commentator as "the best synthesis of the law of class actions in years," and by another as "an essential and valuable component of every commercial litigator's library." In addition to full-scale exploration of all class action principles of general application, the treatise features focused discussion of Rule 23's application to the substantive practice areas in which putative class action claims frequently are litigated. The Seventh Edition is substantially expanded and updated, featuring extensive new text analyzing class action and shareholder derivative litigation developments since publication of the Sixth Edition last year.
