Partners Lee Meyerson, Sven Mickisch and Amanda Allexon authored an article titled, “Provident/Lakeland Approvals Highlight Agency Divergence on Bank Merger Transactions,” which was published by Thomson Reuters Westlaw. The article discussed the differing approaches taken by the Federal Reserve and the FDIC in their respective approvals of Provident Financial Services' acquisition of Lakeland Bancorp. The article further provided detail on how the FDIC included a number of unique conditions to its approval of the Provident application, while the Federal Reserve approval included no explicit conditions, highlighting the diverging approaches to bank merger application review.
