Simpson Thacher was ranked first in data center transactions based on volume from Q1-Q3 2024, according to data from Infralogic. During this time frame, the Firm advised on the following transactions, among others:
- Blackstone in connection with its A$24 billion ($16.1 billion) acquisition of AirTrunk;
- DigitalBridge in connection with a $9.2 billion equity investment round in Vantage Data Centers;
- EQT and its portfolio company, EdgeConneX, in connection with a substantial minority investment in EdgeConneX by Sixth Street;
- KKR in connection with a KKR-led consortium’s $1.3 billion investment in ST Telemedia Global Data Centres;
- New Mountain Capital in its majority investment in Salute Holdings;
- DC BLOX in connection with its raise of incremental equity capital, led by Post Road Group and Bain Capital Credit;
- Town Lane in its joint venture with PowerHouse Data Centers to develop a 300 MW data center campus in Charlotte, NC;
- DigitalBridge and its portfolio company Scala Data Centers in connection with a $525 million preferred equity investment led by Coatue and IMCO;
- More than $10 billion of project financings, CMBS financings and recapitalization transactions for a major data center operator; and
- More than $3.5 billion of ABS issuances for numerous major data center operators.
The Firm has also advised on many other significant transactions in the data center space, including KKR’s recently announced $50 billion strategic partnership with Energy Capital Partners; Blackstone’s $7 billion joint venture with Digital Realty to develop hyperscale data centers; and DataBank’s $2 billion equity raise.
