Berkshire Hathaway Completes ¥281.8 Billion Yen-Denominated Bond Offering

Simpson Thacher represented Merrill Lynch International and Mizuho Securities USA LLC, in the registered public offering of ¥281.8 billion aggregate principal amount of debt securities by Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (“Berkshire”), consisting of ¥155.4 billion of 1.031% Senior Notes due 2027, ¥58.0 billion of 1.265% Senior Notes due 2029, ¥23.3 billion of 1.465% Senior Notes due 2031, ¥16.0 billion of 1.737% Senior Notes due 2034, ¥11.8 billion of 2.373% Senior Notes due 2044, ¥5.0 billion of 2.577% Senior Notes due 2052 and ¥12.3 billion of 2.625% Senior Notes due 2054. The offering closed on October 23, 2024.

Berkshire and its subsidiaries engage in diverse business activities including insurance and reinsurance, freight rail transportation, utilities and energy, finance, manufacturing, services and retailing. Berkshire’s common stock is listed on the NYSE under trading symbols BRK.A and BRK.B.
