John Terzaken, Global Co-Chair of the Firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice, was quoted in a Financial Times article titled, “Millions of Workers are Caught in a ‘Non-Compete’ Trap.” The article discussed the widespread use of non-compete clauses, which restrict employees from moving to rival companies, as well as the ongoing conversation between the public, policymakers and companies surrounding the benefits and challenges. John explained how many employers are moving away from strict non-competes as a result of this sentiment, noting, “Both sides of the aisle are really talking about the need for people to be able to advocate for themselves for higher wages and the like.” He went on to note that employers who decide to forgo non-competes have other options to safeguard information, including non-solicit clauses and confidentiality agreements.
