John Terzaken Quoted in GCR on DOJ Dropping Two Criminal Cases in One Week

John Terzaken, Global Co-Chair of the Firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice, was quoted in a Global Competition Review (GCR) article titled, “DOJ drops second criminal case in a week.” The article discussed the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) motion to dismiss its price-fixing charges against a former executive in the pharmaceuticals industry, which was the second criminal case it voluntarily dropped within a week. John explained that this is unprecedented for the DOJ, noting, “The division often does not bring indictments if it does not believe it has a solid prosecutorial case.” He further reflected that the DOJ may be taking recent losses into account in evaluating pending criminal cases.
