Simpson Thacher advised BC Partners, which announced the final close of Special Opportunities Fund II (“SOF II”), the second BC Partners Credit opportunities fund. SOF II was oversubscribed at $1.2 billion relative to its $750 million target.
SOF II pursues a differentiated strategy that pivots opportunistically between private and public market sourced opportunities and seeks to partner with management teams by embracing a value-added lending approach. SOF II focuses on private originations and secondary investments in North American and European markets.
BC Partners Credit was launched in February 2017 and has pursued a strategy focused on identifying attractive credit opportunities in any market environment. The platform leverages the broader firm's deep industry and operating resources to provide flexible financing solutions to middle-market companies, often in more complex and less competitive market segments.
The Simpson Thacher team includes Peter Gilman, Jessica O’Connell, Michael Fronte, Peter A. Thomas, Richard Zhang, Matthew Freeze and Rushant Badani (Private Funds); Jonathan Goldstein and Brian Mendick (Tax); Julia Kohen, Jessica Paletsky and Gabriel King (Credit); and Brian Robbins and Jeanne Annarumma (ERISA).
