In Preqin’s report titled, “Service Providers in Alternative Assets 2021,” Simpson Thacher was highlighted as a perennial market leader in the formation of funds in various asset classes. The Firm ranked as the top law firm advising sponsors on the formation of real estate, infrastructure and energy-focused funds raised cumulatively to date for all funds in Preqin’s database. Preqin also noted the Firm amongst the leading advisers for private equity funds that raised more than $1 billion (for 2020-2021 and since the database’s inception). Additionally, according to Preqin’s database, Simpson Thacher ranks first amongst law firms advising on private equity funds that raised more than $5 billion in 2020-2021 (and ranks first for advising $5 billion-plus funds cumulatively to date for all funds in Preqin’s database by a more than two-to-one margin over any other law firm).
