Corporate Partner Patrick Ryan was profiled by Law360 as a 2021 Banking “MVP.” The article highlighted Patrick’s work as the go-to advisor for many major banks as they  financed numerous market-shaping, multibillion-dollar deals over the past year alone, including those that created the nation’s second-biggest media company and the world’s biggest aircraft lessor. Looking back at his success over the past year, Patrick noted that he is proudest of the work that the entire Simpson Thacher team was able to achieve. “The aggregation of a lot of individual moments of dedication, commitment and client service over the past year has generated a lot of success on individual transactions, and we’ve been able to accomplish that through the pandemic,” he said. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Patrick also highlighted that it is important for junior attorneys to understand that their education isn’t over after they graduate from law school. He explained, “you’re the master of your own destiny. Figure out what you want out of the law firm and then go about acquiring it.”
