Partners Todd Crider and Grenfel Calheiros were featured in a Latinvex Q&A titled, “Simpson Thacher: Strong Latin America Growth, Good Outlook.” The article highlighted the strong year that the Firm is having in Latin America and discussed the outlook for work in the region across both the capital markets and mergers and acquisitions spaces. When discussing the capital markets pipeline, Grenfel noted that, “in general, we had a very strong year in 2020 and 2021 has continued to be very strong. We have had more than 20 deals out of Brazil and 38 out of Latin America since January, and we’ve advised seven Brazilian issuers on offerings across the B3 and in the U.S. in the past few weeks alone.” Todd continued, “often when you see roaring capital markets, the M&A volume falls, but we have seen the exact opposite this year. M&A is up very strongly across the region. Companies—even early-stage companies—have much more choice in the way they grow.”
