Funds Partner Peter Gilman was quoted in a Private Equity Law Report article titled, “Fund Manager and Investor Benefits Fueling the Increasing Popularity of Single Investor Funds (Part One of Two).” The article, the first in a two-part series, explored the benefits of single investor funds (SIFs) for both sponsors and LPs that led to their rise in popularity, and how that growth is prompting lenders to facilitate more fund finance solutions for the vehicles. Peter noted that emerging managers can use SIFs to show expertise and help secure investor confidence in a subsequent commingled fund, and established managers can use SIFs to prove their expertise in a new strategy. “You do that a few times with several sophisticated institutional investors to build up a track record, and then you can use that momentum to raise a commingled fund around the strategy,” he explained.
