John Terzaken, Global Co-Chair of the Firm’s Antitrust and Trade Regulation Practice, was quoted in Global Competition Review (GCR) and Law360 articles discussing enforcement activity around the globe in 2020, as well as analyzing potential shifts in antitrust enforcement trends under the new administration. This data was released as part of Simpson Thacher’s “2020 Global Cartel Enforcement Report.” When speaking with GCR, John—a former Director of Criminal Enforcement at the DOJ—noted that criminal enforcement at the Antitrust Division is usually resistant to shifts in the political winds during administration turnovers. However, John said he expects the Biden Administration will bring “changes on the margins,” with a particularly heightened focus on international cooperation, sustainability and corporate leniency.
