Simpson Thacher is representing Laureate Education, Inc. (NASDAQ: LAUR) in connection with its definitive agreement to sell Walden University to Adtalem Global Education Inc. (NYSE: ATGE) for $1.48 billion in cash, subject to customary adjustments. The transaction is expected to close toward the end of 2021, subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval by the U.S. Department of Education and the Higher Learning Commission.
Walden University is a regionally accredited higher education institution in the United States offering online doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s and graduate certificate programs.
