Partner Todd Crider will speak at the Ford Foundation Center for Social Justice on September 24 at 10 a.m. at the New York headquarters of the Ford Foundation. Todd will deliver opening and closing remarks for the event, which will include three panels covering topics relating to “Scaling Up Effective Community-Driven Solutions to Protect the Rainforest and Tackle the Climate Crisis.” Panelists will discuss how Indigenous environmental defenders are converting technology into action, the scientists who are assisting them in protecting the rainforest, and the findings of a scientific study carried out by the Rainforest Foundation US and Columbia University that measures the impact of community-based forest monitoring on combating deforestation in Indigenous territories of the Peruvian Amazon. Through the Rainforest Foundation US and the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, the Firm has previously provided pro bono legal services to Indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon as to land rights and environmental remediation claims.
