Corporate Partner Rajib Chanda was quoted in an article for Hedge Fund Law Report titled, “The Exempt Offering Framework: Key Takeaways From the Concept Release for Private Fund Managers (Part Two of Two).” The piece discusses the main takeaways for private fund managers from the recent SEC “Concept Release on Harmonization of Securities Offering Exemptions, ” which was published to promote the discussion and review of the exempt offering rules. The new concept release will collect industry and public comment until September 24.

Among the many topics Rajib touches on, he addresses the SEC’s desire to potentially increase retail investors’ access to private markets. “’My sense is that a big part of what [SEC Chair Jay] Clayton wants his legacy to be is that he put Main Street, America, on a level footing with institutional investors and Wall Street. That is, why should only the wealthy be allowed to invest in things that make them wealthier?’” Rajib states.
