Partner Keith Noreika was quoted in an IFLR article titled “Fed's regulatory alignment is logical but complicated,” which discusses the Federal Reserve’s proposal to align the regulatory standards imposed on non-US banks in the US with domestic banks. In the article, Keith discusses the complexity of creating a policy that places domestic and foreign banks “at parity.” “The complication is figuring out what that means,” says Keith. "The way foreign banks do business in the US isn't exactly the same as US banks because there is a foreign operation. Activities that may normally make a domestic bank look risky, like cross-border transactions, may not be so risky in the context of a foreign bank."
