The Firm represented Ohio Valley Electric Corporation (OVEC) in connection with its application to become a full member of PJM Interconnection, L.L.C. (PJM), a regional transmission organization regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) that coordinates the movement of wholesale electricity in all or parts of Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. FERC approved OVEC’s integration into PJM by order issued February 13, 2018, with integration expected to be effective as of June 1, 2018.
OVEC and its wholly owned subsidiary, Indiana-Kentucky Electric Corporation (IKEC), own two generating stations (consisting of the 1,086 megawatt Kyger Creek unit, located in Cheshire, Ohio, and the 1,303 megawatt Clifty Creek unit, located in Madison, Indiana), as well as 705 miles of 345 kilovolt electric transmission lines. All of the output from the generating stations are sold under a FERC-approved Inter-Company Power Agreement with certain investor-owned utilities and affiliates of certain electric cooperatives, each of which are owners or affiliates of owners of OVEC.
