Corporate Partner Pete Gilman was quoted in a Law360 article on the 10 largest private equity fundraisings of 2017. The article, titled “Inside The 10 Largest Private Equity Funds Of 2017,” notes that Simpson Thacher is the only law firm that advised on more than one of the top 10 fundraisings of 2017 - specifically, CVC Capital Partners Fund VII and Silver Lake Partners V, the second and third-largest funds of the year, respectively.

In the article, Pete discusses technology as one of the next frontiers for private equity. “I think many people in the industry have seen how successful Silver Lake and others have been and have been finding it harder and harder to find value in traditional ‘brick and mortar’ private equity investments,” Pete says. He also notes the continues success of the Europe and North America markets. “Europe and North America remain the most developed PE markets and the principal areas of focus for many of our PE clients when fundraising. Both markets are quite strong,” Pete says.
