Simpson Thacher earned the overall “Global M&A Deal of the Year” grand prize from The American Lawyer for its representation of ChemChina in its $43 billion acquisition of Syngenta at the publication’s annual Global Legal Awards event, in addition to earning four other “Global Deal of the Year” awards. The ChemChina/Syngenta deal was also named “Global M&A Deal of the Year: China.” Additionally, the Firm was recognized for “Global M&A Deal of the Year: Ireland” for its representation of Tyco in its $20 billion merger with Johnson Controls. In addition, Simpson Thacher was honored in the “Global M&A Deal of the Year: Canada” category for representing ITC in its $11.3 billion acquisition by Fortis. Further, the Firm was recognized in the “Global Finance Deal of the Year: Acquisition Finance” category for advising Blackstone in the sale of a 25% equity interest in Hilton to HNA Group for $6.5 billion.
